Heart of Galloway

Our wonderful Heart of Galloway Visitor Centre is nestled in the heart of Castle Douglas, and is a perfect stop for local information and a spot of shopping.

It boasts shelves stocked with local artisan crafters and producer creations and leaflets of information all about our great area’s site seeing, history and things to do.

CDDF acquired Heart of Galloway in 2018 after Visit Scotland, the countries national tourism agency, announced its closure after a national restructuring.

In a bid to save the great tourism to Castle Douglas, CDDF contacted Visit Scotland and started a trial lease of the building in May 2018.

Heart of Galloway Visitor Centre is located at Market Hill, in Castle Douglas. Which has it’s own free car park, including electric charge points.Market Hill also offers it’s own park and grassed area, making it very aesthetically pleasing. It’s also a stone’s throw away from King St–Castle Douglas’ bustling high street.

CDDF also runs the monthly producer’s market, which takes place every 3rd Sunday of the Month on Market Hill from 10am to 2pm and hosts around 30 gazebos of different local producers and crafters.
