Men’s Shed
Castle Douglas Men’s Shed was established in March of 2019, after founder James Robertson had been searching for a premise to start a Men’s Shed.
The Shed was previously a project of Castle Douglas Development Forum. The charity helped secure a premise for them, and commenced the start of the shed.
In late 2023, the Castle Douglas Men’s Shed became their own established Charity!
The men moved to a much bigger premise in January 2023 – where they have expanded the projects they take on and the amount of members they have.
Castle Douglas Men’s Shed now has 30 active members with varying skills and trades, in which they are continuously doing work for the community.
Being a part of the Men’s Shed Association means combating the loneliness and isolation so many men face, the same men who are our fathers, brothers, and friends.
Taking on projects from the community brings the men together to be productive, socialise, learn new skills, and have a good laugh.
Every man is welcome to join, no matter his age, ability, or skill. There is something for everyone – even if it’s just to have a cuppa and chat.
They meet every Wednesday at 1 pm, 1-2 Carlingwark St in Castle Douglas.
